The Hon. Angad Paul became Chief Executive of Caparo in 2003 and since then has been a major force behind the company’s continued growth both the United Kingdom and abroad.
In the UK Angad’s dynamic and entrepreneurial approach has taken Caparo towards a strategy for higher value added products and services. The launch of the Caparo T1, the “Formula 1 car for the road” in 2006, is one example of his innovative vision for Caparo. Alongside the impressive performance, the car is also a tangible proof of Caparo’s technological and manufacturing capability. Though its creation and publicity, over a very short period or time, Angad Paul increased Caparo’s international brand recognition many fold, and also paved the way for Caparo’s entry into composites and added value automotive and aerospace components.
With a keen eye for opportunity, he also led the acquisition of 22 companies in the UK in 2006, including entry into non-destructive testing services and braking systems. He also initiated trading operations in Dubai and China and states “Caparo’s future lies in the proactive exploration of brand new territories, and further value addition to our traditional steel products’ offering as well as further service provision”.
Under Angad’s tenure, in India Caparo expansion has also been rapid. Significant investments have been made in establishing the business as the preferred supplier in the automotive component, power generation and finance sectors in the country. Focused on 4 regional centres, Caparo India currently operates from over 25 sites and plans further new ventures.
Angad Paul was born in London and attended MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Boston, USA, where he received a BSc in Economics but also studied Media Arts and Sciences, an interest he has pursued successfully having been Producer and Executive Producer of numerous films including the immensely successful "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" and “Snatch”.
