Caparo Materials Engineering appoints new Divisional Managing Director
Caparo Materials Engineering (CME), the Caparo division which specialises in the design, manufacture and marketing of niche engineering products and services, has this month appointed a new Managing Director. With an impressive record in previous senior positions, Chris Gane brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the business and will lead the formulation and delivery of CME’s future strategic plans.
Chris’s career prior to joining Caparo was built in the defence and aerospace markets. During his time with the Thales Group he held positions such as Director of the Naval, Airborne and Logistic Support Business Sectors (UK and France), Managing Director at Thales Optronics (UK), Vice President of Defence Optronics (UK, France, Netherlands and Canada), and Vice President for Thales Training & Simulation. More recently he served as Chief Operating Officer for Smiths Detection and was responsible for the operations of eight manufacturing locations and service centres.
Chris is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and is active within ADS, a trade body for Aerospace, Defence and Security, where he chairs the Market Development Board.
Douglas Dawson, Chief Operating Office of Caparo, a $1.5Bn turnover family owned global engineering business, said: “Initially, Chris’s focus will be on extending the successful platform already created within CME and its businesses. However we believe Chris’s experience will be invaluable in maximising the opportunities that lie before the Materials Engineering Division as it moves forward in 2012 and beyond”.
